Tamara Sandoval y Pereyra was born in 1987 in Patagonia, Argentina. Her upbringing in this unique place influences her work, her worldview, and the way she connects with a certain perception of the sublime in nature. She lived for several years in Buenos Aires, where she graduated as a landscaping technician, and later in Berlin, Germany, where she worked as an artist for art departments and set dresser for films, television shows, and exhibitions. She has also curated and set up exhibitions featuring numerous emerging Argentine artists. She currently lives in Bariloche, where she works in her studio. Tamara is a self-taught visual artist. Artistic expression has always been her singular language. Her artistic universe reflects her perspective on human unconsciousness and its impact on individuals and societies. Dark figures characterise her paintings, the blending of bright colours, and the shape of the circle (the most perfect shape, the beginning, and that which never ends). For her, the starting point is finding a connection between human decay and love.

My works offer us the opportunity to pass through portals or doors to inner worlds, with humanoid figures acting as guardians who inhabit the space between the known and the unknown, leaving behind the familiar. When confronted with these metaphorical doors, we are compelled to question our own identity, the fragility of our existence, and our connection with the world around us. It is an invitation to explore what we often leave unexamined in our daily lives and to find meaning in what is hidden at the edges of our consciousness.

The shadow represents a hidden or repressed part of identity, a kind of double that follows the figure wherever it goes, reminding us that there is always more than meets the eye, reinforcing the idea of duality between the visible and the invisible, the natural and the geometric, what we show and what we keep hidden, and the complexity of human identity.

In this context, my paintings are not only portals to different emotional and psychological states but also a reflection on authenticity and the search for oneself amidst all the masks we wear. By saying "behind my thousand masks, I exist," I acknowledge the multiplicity of identity, but also the essential truth that lies at the heart of them all—the existence that endures beyond the superficial.
